Just an Update =) November 11, 2007

First Day of Classes
The dreaded first day of classes had finally come. For the first time in weeks, waking up early and reaching UP in time was imperative once more. I was 5 minutes late for my first class, Geography 1. Our classroom, as I was disheartened to find out, is on the 3rd floor, right beside the staircase. It’s one of those corner rooms in Palma Hall. It’s as if the designers of the building had just forcibly turned a broom closet into a classroom for the sake of adding to the building’s capacity. It’s also as hot as hell there. But I’m not all complaints, at least. I think I’m going to survive through this class well if I can find it in me to keep coming to class on time and more importantly, keep coming to class period.
So I just went ahead to the CS building, 30 minutes before my next class. I ran into CS 130 classmates there. The fudging CS 130 that I enlisted in, which was supposed to be an MTh 2:30-4:00 class, was moved to 5:30-7:00. I could not for the life of me take one whole sem with a 7am class in the morning and then stay until 7pm every Thursday, so I and some other classmates prerog-ed in another section.
Anwyay, after my last class, I met up with Marie, and we joined some other ESC at Eng’g before proceeding to NBC Tent in Global City for the UPAE Homecoming.
UPAE Alumni Homecoming
The ESC were to serve as ushers for the Alumni Homecoming. The venue was set-up really nice and there was a heck load of buffet tables with so much food and 2 whole roasted cows that looked kind of freaky. I was stationed with some others at the entrance. We were the “greeters”. It was kind of tiring having to welcome each and every guest, but oh very rewarding since we were the first to, er, “mingle” with the VIPs. Nagpa-picture pa kami with Pres. Roman !!
So anyway. The evening went on, and after almost 3 hours and 5 million guest arrivals (okay, that might be exagerrating a bit), we were relieved of duty by the 2nd batch of ESC people and we, the first batch-ers, indulged ourselves to the yummy yum yum dinner provided for us by Albergus.. (and sneaked a bit from the buffet..tsk tsk)
Free beer, Johnnie Walker, Bailey’s.. no wonder the night turned out to be a pseudo-inuman for some. Since we were done with our ushering duties, we just watched part of the program. The UP Pep Squad performed their winning routine for the benefit of the alumni who are oblivious to the world of UAAP. Then some special guests arrived… I can only name Cory Quirino because I myself am very naive when it comes to big names and celebrities in the Philippines.
Then my mom came at around 10 PM to fetch me. Then I went home. And then boring na ulit ang life ko. Haha.
Saturday Classes and Hell Buses
Woke up at 6 am yesterday (Saturday) because for the first time since I entered College, I have Saturday classes. Eep. I got to school quite a bit early so I had to wait a few minutes for someone I knew before entering the almost-empty classroom.
The class is CS 197 - Leadership 101. I guess it’s going to be kind of a break from the regular academics we’re going to be having this sem. The more fun part being I get to be classmates with a lot of orgmates and friends and some ESC.
Can I just say. ANG INIT INIT INIT INIIIIIT magcommute pauwi ng 2:30 PM. Especially when the bus you’re riding is has barely functioning air conditioning, and no curtains at all. Para kaming niluluto sa loob ng bus. Then I even had to ride a jeep and walk quite a distance after the stupid bus ride.
I cannot cannot cannot imagine how I’m going to endure this for one whole semester. Gah.
