Sunday Sundaes [edited!] January 27, 2008
Posted by Mayee in : Daily Babble , add a commentIt’s Sunday already?! Where the heck did my weekend go again? (See previous entry)
Yesterday (Saturday) went by like a snap. I woke up relatively early because my sister asked for some money [ Yikee, ang bait ni ate! hmph. Sana may kuya/ate ako. ]
Anyway. The rest of my morning was wasted on soundtripping and pondering on many many things, that eventually led to no resolutions. In the afternoon, I worked on a few things, read through a few pages of my EL 50 readings, then got bored and worked on that irritatingly bright pink header you see up there right now.
For dinner, we went over to my cousins’ place since they had handa for my cuz’s birthday. We ate dinner while watching ONE MORE CHANCE because Ate Ann had it on when we arrived. For crying out loud! Enough of these frustrating plots already. Thank you, John Lloyd, for looking wonderfully charming throughout the movie. Yun lang. =) haha.
Then after ONE MORE CHANCE, they watched SWEENEY TODD. I’d already seen that movie (and have been singing its soundtrack all week) but it’s wonderfully addictive to watch, and yet again the lead actor claims my attention. But really, what is it with frustrated loves as a theme.. Mrs. Lovett, I pity you so.
And it’s freaking 1:00 in the morning and i’m still up! I have a field trip to Corregidor in a few hours (6 AM to be exact!) and I have to be off to bed by now. So goodnight. I shall perhaps have time to post about the field trip later today. =)

Change, Purpose, and Fleeting Saturdays January 26, 2008
Posted by Mayee in : Daily Babble , 1 comment so farWhat is the purpose of a day?Is it but a measure of time in this agony of uncertain lengths we call life? The sun rises with the hopes of change and productivity, yet it sets with a tone of closure and finality.. with the idea that what time had elapsed in your day may never again be revisited to be changed.
Are we all to be satisfied with waking up in the morning and retiring at night with the thought that we had not gone out into the world and made a change of satisfactory proportions? But then again how do we define Change? Is it but a phenomenon to be seen in the world around us, or do we count that which we experience when we shed a tear or laugh in sheer glee? In any case, it is in fact change that we seek to bring a sense of fulfillment to each day, or else we find ourselves in a state of blandness and irritating consistency.
Change.. but to what purpose? Not every individual has a clearly defined picture of what their purpose in life is. I say it’s because we cannot see ourselves in the eyes of the world. We may feel like a square peg and try to fit ourselves with all our might and effort into that square hole in the world, when in fact we are really a circle, and that big circular gap might be waiting on the other side of this lonely planet we call Earth. Grotesque Tinge of Crimson January 25, 2008
Posted by Mayee in : Daily Babble , 1 comment so farNo one’s gonna hurt you, no one’s gonna dare
Others can desert you,
Not to worry, whistle, I’ll be there!
Demons’ll charm you with a smile, for a while
But in time…
Nothing can harm you
Not while I’m around…
- “Not While I’m Around”, From the Motion Picture “Sweeney Todd”
I’m still hung up on how wonderful the music from Sweeney Todd was.. but I’m even more hung up on the fact that it was a gory revenge-driven [semi love story] movie that ended in a pool of oddly ketchup-red blood.
Yep. Me and a few friends caught the 7:25 screening of Sweeney Todd at Gateway last Wednesday. It was fun. Johnny Depp is still the s** even when he’s costumed-up as some ghost-faced barber slash serial killer who cuts his victims up with his silver blades. It was also fun seeing a number of actors from the Harry Potter cast. You’d be amused too if you were thinking of Alan Rickman as Severus Snape while watching him sing of his romantic obsession with Joanna.
In such times of utter emotional shock [excessive feelings of anger, rage, and betrayal], one DOES tend to blabber on about such trivial things [like recently-watched films..] as these are the only things left with sense enough to be worthy of my words. Stories of other things [like the story of how one’s stupidity, one’s ignorance, and other people’s insensitive and horribly betraying actions can ruin a day] are left to be crumpled up and fed to the dogs.
On a lighter note.. HOORAY FOR GEOG 1! Aced that exam this afternoon! Booyah! I guess we all get lucky some time! =)
Funday Sunday Dance-day January 20, 2008
Posted by Mayee in : Daily Babble , 1 comment so farWoke up late today, as usual. Ate lunch as a substitute for breakfast. Despite countless efforts of setting my mind to wake up early on Sunday so that I could go grocery shopping with my mom… well let’s just say it has never happened.
At around 12, my cousins and my aunt came over after attending Sunday mass. Ate Ann wanted some company because she was going to buy herself a LAPTOP after months and months of canvassing for the perfect one. And since by the time they got here I was still a disheveled mess right out of bed, I took a quick bath off we went to Park Square 1, with my aunt, my dad, and my sister.
Laptops are a funny thing to purchase. You buy one now and in a snap you immediately regret it because something better has come out.. or you find some kinks in the one you got. Although that wouldn’t be true if you got yourself one of those laptops that make people around you go oooh at the sight of it.
I have no idea why I’m blogging about laptops. So on to the rest of the days events!
After our quick stop at [I freaking forgot the name of the shop], my sister says she wants to see “Sweeney Todd” or some movie. Since it was sort of crowded at Park Square, we figured there’d be even MORE people at Glorietta or Greenbelt (and it was such a long walk away, I guess) my dad suggested we watch at Walter Mart. Honestly, I cringed when he mentioned the place. I haven’t been there before, and I just see it when the shuttle I ride home passes by it, but it really isn’t one of the more popular malls (at least to ME). Plus, I have a thing for unfamiliar places.. I don’t like them. I don’t like them at all. But what the heck.. I wouldn’t get lost or anything.. so hooray, a new place to venture! (more…)
Busy body January 13, 2008
Posted by Mayee in : Daily Babble , 4commentsMy blog seems senseless right now. I’m too busy to make a sensible entry, and everything else that happens that isn’t work-related, is far too mundane or complicated to put down in a blog entry.
It’s early January, but I’m already looking forward to summer vacation.. which makes no sense at all since I still feel like I’m in some twilight zone stuck in vacation mode from the holidays. Add that to the fact that I have tons of stuff to finish for this week, not to mention an MP design docu for CS 145 that I still haven’t the faintest idea about, and a gazillion deadlines for other non-academic related stuff. (Yes, mommy, priorities, I know..)
But why whine about things I got myself into? People should only get to whine about what unfortunate circumstances come upon them without their consent whatsoever. And THAT is a fact.
Something’s wrong with my attention span.
I’m Back January 12, 2008
Posted by Mayee in : Daily Babble , add a commentIn more ways than one, I am back. But as far as this blog is concerned, I am back from a very long blog hiatus, with a simpler, neater layout to boot.
Just finished watching “I am Legend.” It’s a fairly dramatic movie with quite a different plot presentation. Although it mostly consisted of Will Smith going semi-insane being all alone in New York, it wasn’t that boring.. but I wouldn’t say I was thrilled to the edge of my seat. I give it a 6 out of 10. If it weren’t for Will Smith, that movie would be down the drain right now. But that’s just my opinion.
It was raining all day today, which made for a more emo-conducive atmosphere.. not to mention awfully wicked traffic jams all over the place. My mom and I had to endure more than 3 hours of traffic just to get home after she picked me up from the apartment in Katipunan. But all was worth it when we decided to grab some take-out from Brothers Burger in BF on the way home.
I had a bet with someone that I would stay up later than he could. I said I’d lose, but no doubt I’d win. Weird how my sleeping habits are as erratic as ever.
